Must-have MP3 Music Downloads? Nutcracker: Nightmare Thriller Techno Remix Soundtrack EP

As a movie director/music fanatic with TNC, it was natural for me to pursue both mediums simultaneously so one would compliment the other, such as impressive Soundtrack audio that underlines the visuals of a motion picture or stimulating collage imagery that punctuates an artist’s song to convey its overall content.

TNC began exploring the vast landscape of solo artists that could offer applicable music for the soundtrack for its first feature Nutcracker: An American Nightmare, a dark, psychological, Hitchcock like thriller that paid homage to Italian-European Giallo films of the 1970’s-80’s. We had a breakthrough when we got in contact with the very talented Julee Cruise [David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, ; also an on and off collaborator with Badalementi, J.J. McGeehan and Jermaine Dupri] who loved the story and composed two original songs: In Your World of Blue and Never Let You Go which completely captured the tone of the film and especially the main character, Dr. Carlton Fairfax II.

In addition, where we filmed (San Francisco, CA) there was another songwriter with musical talents in the area of electronica dance house, by the name of Joshua Gest. A member of Aisling Being, he specialized in this heavy, surreal Euro-style trance beat. He incorporated some of our dialogue and created a very impressive extended mix from our current Nutcracker theme versions.

I was and still am today very excited about these songs and how they gel together on the Nutcracker: Nightmare EP. It succeeds in the “replayability” category with some of these strengths: memorable pop hooks, original structure, beautiful vocals, addictive beats and grooves, cool samples, etc. The mood/sound ranges from a classic Twin peaks-esque feel to otherworldly and gothic to obsessive and hypnotic. The club remixes are addictively danceable; Julee’s mysterious, introspective siren vocals and J.J. McGeehan’s dark nod to the underbelly of the lounge-lizard atmosphere combine to form tidal undercurrents of melancholy and dementia, which wash over us, pulling us into its eternal-riptide grasp.

The Pump Room: Star Studded Chicago Dining Landmark

One of the few restaurants in the country to be immortalized in a Sinatra song, the Pump Room in Chicago is now a hot spot once again. The Pump Room was one of the first quality restaurants to open in Chicago after the end of Prohibition, and soon became a Windy City icon. In addition to Sinatra (who sang the praises of the place in the classic song Chicago), the place was a favorite hangout of a lot of famous people including Marilyn Monroe, Sammy Davis, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Ronald Reagan, Bette Davis and numerous others. The Pump Room, named after a spa in Bath, England, remained open long after the giants that once graced its premises had left. Unfortunately, time took its toll on the legendary establishment, and its culinary fare was soon surpassed by the fine dining scene exploding in Chicago and characterized by uber-chef Charlie Trotter.

The Pump Room opened in’38 under the ownership and management of Ernie Blyfield. He took the name from an’th century London pub favored by celebrities and nobility, including Queen Anne. The original pub got its name from the hot drinks pumped into the cocktails of its stylish clientele.

The Chicago Pump Room was a smashing success from the time it opened. It’s most desired table reserved for ‘A list’ celebrities was Booth #1, which for a time may have been the most sought after table at any dining establishment in the country. Booth #1 at various times hosted Frank Sinatra and his associates, Bogart and Bacall, Judy Garland and daughter Liza Minnelli, John Barrymore and countless others.

After Blyfield’s death in’50, the Pump Room lived on as a Chicago hot spot and welcomed a new era of big names including Mel Brooks, Paul Newman, Robert Redford and Eddie Murphy. One of the most famous stories surrounding the club involves former Genesis drummer Phil Collins, who was refused entry for not wearing a jacket. This inspired the title of his next album ‘No Jacket Required’ which has sold over– million copies worldwide and established Collins as a solo superstar. Following its release, the Pump Room sent Collins an apology–and an appropriate jacket for him to wear on his next visit.

The Pump Room was purchased by a large restaurant management group in the late’90’s. They spent a lot of money to renovate the facility, overhaul the menu and hire a top flight chef. While the Pump Room’s golden era trade mark flaming food served on a sword was a tragedy of city fire codes, the menu is now on par with any in the city serving a sophisticated interpretation of classic American cuisine. In addition to the revamped cuisine, the Pump Room upgraded its wine offering and expanded the bar area.

The Pump Rooms stature has been maintained by current executive chef Nick Sutton. The star of the place, however, is still the almost palpable sense of history that the dining room offers. Considering that the giants of civilized culture”from Bogey all the way to the Chairman himself”have held court in that room, it is a pretty intoxicating aura. Fortunately, the Pump Room is once again worthy of such legends, and its renaissance is a victory for culinary civility in a world too often overwhelmed with Olive Gardens and Red Lobsters.

He had surgery on his back in the process, and now claims that hes back to 100%.

1977 Triple Crown Winner Seattle Slew

Seattle Slew–the last living Triple Crown winner–died on May 7, 2002 at the age of 28. As one of only 11 Triple Crown winners in history, he is by default one of the greatest horses in the history of thoroughbred racing. Of those 11 legendary animals, Seattle Slew was the only one to complete the Triple Crown with an undefeated record, as well as the only one to have been purchased at a public auction. After retiring in’78, Slew became one of the most important and successful stud horses in the history of the sport. He sired 1,066 foals including 102 stakes race winners. Among this impressive group of offspring was the’84 Kentucky Derby winner, Swale. All told, Slew’s offspring have won an amazing $76 million dollars at the race track. Slew’s stud fee of $300,000 made him a very profitable horse even after his racing career was over. Slew wasn’t a particularly attractive horse, but he had the toughness of a championship boxer and the sort of intestinal fortitude and desire that can only be given by The Creator.

The Seattle Slew story started at a public auction in Kentucky–not exactly a venue expected to produce a future champion. Slew, in particular, was an unlikely heir to greatness. He was somewhat clumsy looking due to a front right forefoot splay and had a shuffling gait at trot. Slew wasn’t a beautifully majestic creature like his Triple Crown winning predecessor, Secretariat. In fact, he could have been considered borderline ugly–to the extent that he was nicknamed ‘Baby Huey’ by the Keeneland staff. What wasn’t apparent at the time was Slew’s mixture of championship intangibles–competitive desire, toughness, heart and enthusiasm. His owners had unwittingly stumbled onto an equine Muhammad Ali, and his competitive fire quickly became apparent to his trainers and jockeys. His first race came at Belmont Park in’76, and he entered–and won–three races as a two year old giving a glimpse as to what like ahead.

Slew quickly became a horse to watch as a three year old as he won three Derby prep races including the Wood Memorial. In the Derby, Slew got off to a terrible start as he stumbled out of the gate. He recovered from the miscue and essentially bulled his way through a pack of horses to lead at the 1/4 mile pole. Slew would win the Derby by a length and 3 quarters. He took another tough victory at the Preakness before clinching the Triple Crown with a 4 length victory in the Belmont Stakes.

Slew ran in a few races as a 4 year old but in the pre-Breeders’ Cup days there wasn’t as many opportunities for an older horse. He retired to stud in’78, where he sired champions such as the aforementioned Swale and’92 Belmont Champ AP Indy.

Slew was in someways overshadowed during his prime by his predecessor–and arguably the greatest thoroughbred race horse in history–1973 Triple Crown winner Secretariat. In hindsight, however, it has finally been noted what an exceptional horse he really was. Jockey Angel Cordero, who rode Slew during the twilight of his career noted “If I had a chance to take any horse in the world, if someone said your life is depending on riding one horse to win, I would take (Slew). I rode 44,000 horses, but he was special, he was different. He was muscled, like a wrestler. He ran different than any other horse. It was like he came from another planet.”

Following his death in 2002, Slew was laid to rest at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm in Kentucky under a statue memorializing his legacy.

Watch Did You Hear About The Morgans? – Watch Movies Online

I know, I know. Some movies – most movies – get a bigging up before they are released and this one has had an awful littling down. No one has had a civil word to say on the subject of Did You Hear About the Morgans? – Free Online. The word of mouth, in this case, appears to begin with S. I spoke to some people who had seen this romcom, before settling down to watch it myself, and they had the shocked, glassy-eyed expression of people who have witnessed two buses, full of children from two separate orphanages, involved in a head-on collision. And the littling down process hasn’t been helped, particularly, by the film’s star, Hugh Grant, who gave a cheerfully detached performance on television with Jonathan Ross, indicating that he wasn’t exactly pinning Oscar hopes on it. His pairing with Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t look promising either, given their expressions of cod dismay, or possibly real dismay, on the poster. And yet, and yet … in a silly way, it is entertaining, the mismatch is actually weirdly plausible, and try as I might, I couldn’t be grumpy about it.

Grant and Parker play the eponymous Morgans, Paul and Meryl, a super high-flying couple in Manhattan: he’s a top lawyer and she’s a top estate agent. But they are separated, due to Paul’s infidelity, which he now desperately regrets. Walking away from a restaurant after a stilted would-be romantic dinner, which Paul has staged in the hope of a reconciliation, they witness a mob hit in a back alley. As state witnesses, they now have to be relocated to rural Wyoming under an assumed identity – and forced to share quarters as a couple – under the benign protection of local married cops, amiably played by Sam Elliott and Mary Steenburgen. And so the time-honoured procedure of troubled city slickers learning hometown values gets underway. SJP even learns to milk a cow, like Harrison Ford in Witness.

It’s silly and zany and, as so often, Grant gives the impression that he could give slightly less than a monkey’s about the whole business. But that never stops him being a very watchable comic actor, and there’s a very funny joke about the respective sizes of the cops assigned to the couple’s personal protection.
