The Best Jim Carrey Performances So Far

One of the funniest actors of today’s generation of movies is Jim Carrey. Over the years, his career has expanded and he is no longer limited to comedies, which is a great thing. Carrey happens to be a very talented actor, regardless of the genre of film he is working in.

But which films have been Jim Carrey’s best? Here are my personal top five favorites films in which he has starred or been featured.

The first movie that makes the cut for me is Liar, Liar. In this movie, Jim Carrey stars as a lawyer named Fletcher Reede, who has a very hard time keeping promises. After his son makes a special birthday wish, Fletcher can’t lie for 24 hours. The result is pretty hilarious.

It goes without saying that one of the Ace Ventura movies has to be mentioned on this list. I personally liked Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls more. There are a few scenes in this movie that absolutely put me in stitches.

Another movie that I definitely have to include on this list is Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. This is one of my top twenty favorite movies of all time, let alone one starring Carrey. This film is directed by Michel Gondry and also stars Kate Winslet. If you are looking to see one of best films of the romance genre the past few years, then this is it. It is amazing and yet, not cheesy at all.

I would hate to make a list of the best Jim Carrey movies without giving praise to one of his more recent successes, Yes Man. This movie had the makings of a Liar Liar rip-off based on the previews, but in the end, it was very much different and in my opinion, a better movie.

The last movie of Jim Carrey’s that makes my top five list is The Truman Show. In terms of originality, this is at the top of the list for comedies in recent years. This movie is very funny and very sad at the same time. Jim Carrey is fantastic as the lead, and Ed Harris is great as well.

I don’t know what the future holds for Jim Carrey. Will he revert to comedies, continue to pursue more serious content matter, or will he stick to children’s films as he has done in recent years? The one thing we can be sure of, is audiences will go see his movies regardless of the genre.

When Did Microsoft Release Halo 3?

On May 15, 2007 the news was out, that Halo 3 would be released on September 25 in North America and the 26th in Europe. Halo 3 marked the third in a very popular series for the Xbox 360 called ‘Halo’. According to the vice president of Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business, Halo 3’s publication was much more than only a video game release, it was the biggest media event of the year. He might just have been right as well.

The full history of Halo 3 really has to start with the release of the first game in the series ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’. In November, 2001, when Halo was first released, game consoles were something of a joke as one-person shoot-em-up games. Yes, some games existed, but there weren’t the popular following that the PC games in the genre had.

That all changed with Halo, in which players could battle aliens on foot and in vehicles, in order to complete objectives, while trying to uncover the secret of the Halo. Halo pioneered limiting the amount of weapons a player could carry to two, which in turn, meant forcing the player to take strategic decisions.

Enthusiasts waited for the release of Halo 3 with baited breath. They awaited the continuation of the one-person, shoot-em-up combat format that had been dominant in the two previous versions of Halo. Microsoft calls it the ‘Golden Triangle of Halo’, which consists of gun-type weapons, grenades and others. In actuality, this was not new to one-person, shoot-em-up games, as it had existed since the very first Doom and even the precursor to that game, Wolfenstein.

So, with all of that previous history, people were full of anticipation and excitement over the Halo 3 release date. How popular and welcome was the game? Well, before its release, 3.1 million copies were sold in advance orders and retailers thought that that was insufficient.

The game grossed $300 million in the United States in only its first week. Overall it has sold over nine million copies worldwide and was the best-selling video game in the United States in 2007. Even the critics liked it, putting it the seventh highest in the all-time list of Xbox 360 games.

The Halo 3 release date, like the release date of many widely popular video games was almost like a holiday like Christmas or Easter. It leaves us with the question of what will happen with video games in the future?

Sound Meditation: The Way To Harmony

If you want to open yourself for spiritual experiences, raise awareness and begin better and harmonious life, you should try sound meditations. With focusing only on the breath, you lock yourself too much. But you can easily avoid this by listening to sounds and thus opening your mind and body to the world.

Singing birds, flutes, falling water, bells – there are infinite amount of sounds you can meditate to. I myself have been practicing meditation with tones of dolphins. However, the real breakthrough was when I first read about the Solfeggio frequencies. Since that time, they’re my favorite kind of sounds. You should realize that these two different sources of sounds will enhance your life.

It’s obvious that dolphins are the most human friendly and intelligent sea creatures. Their specific and calming “voices” are traveling through ocean waves with other sea sounds. You can fully enjoy this amazing sound experience with a little of preparation. Find some random dolphin music in the search engine. Then find nice and comfortable place in your room and lie down. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and let yourself relax.

Just play the music and pay close attention to the sounds without making up a story around them. Focus on the oceanic tones and do not filter or reject any of them. Meditate with clear intention to be aware and avoid external distraction.

If you haven’t heard anything about Solfeggio frequencies, you must know that they were used by the monks centuries ago. The Solfeggio frequencies are: 396, 417, 528, 639, 741 and 852 hz. They have different healing and psychological properties. I’ve tested them on myself and they will do the same for you: meditation with Solfeggios will change your whole life. So simply play the video and take your comfortable position.

Focus your attention on the Solfeggio music. Breathe deeply and recognize what is happening in your mind. If a sound does give rise to a thought image, simply notice this. Resonate with each sound and look deeply into yourself. Your body and mind will relax in just a couple of minutes. After listening to the video, lie down for a moment and then slowly get up. Sound meditation with dolphins or Solfeggio tones will open you for higher spiritual experience and improve your life.

After you have finished designing the layout of your home theater, the next step is to settle on the accessories. Things like floor covering, lighting, decoration, curtains, and fixtures, like a small fridge, some small tables and seating. If you are planning your home cinema just for yourself, then maybe you can afford to really splurge out on a really top end home cinema chair.

Marklin Electric Train Sets

Every boy wants a model electric train set and every father wants him to have one as well. I am not talking about the toy train sets that families like to have running around the Christmas tree, I mean proper train sets that can be extended and built upon – train sets that you can grow fanatical about and some people do, don’t they?

Some people’s childhood interest for model electric train sets becomes a life-long adult passion. This is why some of the earlier model electric train sets are so valuable. After all, few children could afford the prices that some early model electric train sets command.

One model electric train set producer whose products are the top of the tree with the best of them is the German company Maerklin, which started making clockwork model trains and expandable track in 1891.

Maerklin had produced dolls’ houses first of all, but they soon realized that the model train set devotee might be like a dolls’ house owner. That is that they might want to add to their collection after their initial purchase. Therefore, Maerklin offered basic model train sets but with a whole assortment of accessories that could be added on later.

Maerklin model electric train sets come in a selection of scales and gauges, many of which Maerklin itself defined as international standards. For instance, in 1891 Maerklin introduced the 1-5 gauge at the Leipzig Toy Fair and it was quickly adopted as the world’s standard gauge for model train sets.

It followed this up with the O gauge somewhere between 1895 and 1901; the HO scale in 1935 and the Z scale in 1972. These days, however, current Maerklin model electric train sets are limited to Gauge 1, HO scale and Z scale.

These days it is very hard and very expensive to get hold of earlier examples of Maerklin model electric train sets. In 2005, thieves broke into the Maerklin museum in Goeppingen and stole 100 pieces of Maerklin trains and accessories – a value of 1,000,000 Euros was placed on the haul.

They were later recovered in 2005. In Philadelphia, USA, a complete Maerklin train station and accessories was sold at an international auction for $110,000, despite the fact that it was considered that the final selling price would be in the vicinity of $30,000.

Maerklin were truly one of the world’s top innovators in the model electric train set market for about a hundred years, but the company has fallen on difficult times. It filed for insolvency in Germany in February 2009, although a year and a day later, it returned to profitability.

In the 150 years since its foundation as a company, Maerklin has usually been at the forefront of the ideas and technology in its field. Even today, Maerklin is still the world leader for all important scales in the model railroad market, since no other current day manufacturer offers collectors the possibility of adding to existing railtracks and collections.

If you are keen to own some early Maerklin trains or accessories, you can look on Ebay, they do pop up every now and again, but do not presume to find yourself a bargain, the earlier model electric trains were all hand-painted in great detail and they rarely sell for less than $25,000.

Quentin Tarantino And His Finest Movies In Recent Memory

One of my favorite directors in the game right now is without a shadow of a doubt, Quentin Tarantino. Few people exude cool the way that Tarantino does, and besides his incredibly distinguishable style of directing, he is an incredible screen writer. With a Tarantino movie, you know you are going to get top notch dialogue.

But which of Tarantino’s films can be considered his best? The following films are what I consider to be his best.

Reservoir Dogs ranks in as the number 63 film of all time according to the Internet Movie Database, and with good reason. This was one of Tarantino’s first films, but still remains one of his best.

Another amazing movie by Quentin Tarantino that must be mentioned is a movie from the Kill Bill saga. In my opinion, it flows as one movie, but do to its length (it would be over 4 hours long if it were one movie), it had to be split up into two. Volume 1 features more fighting and action, while Volume 2 features more dialog and resolution.

It is tough to make a list of Quentin Tarantino directed or written films without mentioning the Mecca of his movies, Pulp Fiction. This is easily one of my favorite movies of all time and it is amazing it didn’t win an Academy Award for Best Picture. That’s what happens when you go up against Forrest Gump and The Shawshank Redemption in the same year.

Another fantastic Tarantino film is True Romance. Tony Scott actually directed this movie, but it was Quentin Tarantino who wrote the script, and it clearly shows. My favorite scene from this movie is the scene with Christopher Walken and the late Dennis Hopper. Classic Stuff.

One other film that I absolutely loved was Inglorious Basterds. My girlfriend does not like many movies, but this one won her over. That is a good benchmark for me in knowing a film is great!

Hopefully there are one or more films from the great Quentin Tarantino on this list that you have yet to see.

A Few Of The Most Memorable Films From The Very Talented Performer, Kevin Bacon

This article will focus on the illustrious career of Kevin Bacon. Kevin Bacon’s first movie was in 1978, and he has been starring in all sorts of movies ever since. He can dance, play comedic roles, serious roles, and is especially good at playing a villain in films.

But which films have been his best? The following movies are my personal top five favorite films starring Kevin Bacon.

One of the best movies that featured Kevin Bacon is JFK. Now, I am not the biggest fan of Oliver Stone films, but I have to give praise where praise is due. JFK is just a great film, and probably the director’s second best film next to Platoon.

Few people realize that Kevin Bacon’s first movie was actually Animal House. While I am not sure if this was his breakout movie, it still was one of his best. Animal House paved the way for pretty much every other college comedy that followed suit.

Another awesome movie that stars Kevin Bacon is Sleepers. This is not an easy movie to watch, as the subject matter is very serious. This is not a recommended film to watch with the family, but nonetheless a great film.

Mystic River very well might be my favorite of any film that stars Kevin Bacon. Bacon plays a cop in this movie, focusing on a murder of a teenage girl who happens to be the daughter of Bacon’s good friend, played by Sean Penn. Penn is incredible in this movie as well.

Finally, I will include Hollow Man on this list. Ok, maybe it is not actually a good movie, but is it enjoyable? Very much so. As a fan of horror films, I truly enjoyed this movie and thought it was a great concept.

Hopefully there are one or more films on this list from Kevin Bacon, which you have not yet seen, but will now consider.

Tommy Lee Jones And His Most Impressive Roles In Recent Memory

When discussing prolific, yet modest actors, one person who definitely comes to mind is Tommy Lee Jones. Throughout the years, the man has been in so many movies, yet he certainly does not seem like he has a Hollywood ego. Tommy Lee Jones definitely appears to love acting and I love the movies he is in.

But which Tommy Lee Jones movies are the best? Here are some of my favorites.

The Fugitive is, simply put, one of my favorite movies of the nineties. It is hard to imagine anyone else in this movie besides Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. The “waterfall” scene remains one of my favorite scenes of any action movie. If you are a fan of action movies, then you must see The Fugitive.

No Country For Old Men is another film that I truly enjoyed. This film was loved by both critics and audiences, and it was no surprise when it won the Oscar for Best Picture of the Year. In addition to Tommy Lee Jones, this film also stars Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem.

One film that featured Tommy Lee Jones that I loved was Batman Forever. When it comes to quality, this film does not come close to Christopher Nolan’s most recent Batman films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. But that doesn’t mean that this film isn’t a fun watch. Tommy Lee Jones plays the role of Two Face.

While they are not my personal favorite films, I do think you have to give credit to the Men In Black movies. These movies have grossed so much money that it cannot be ignored. A third installment is on the way as well.

Natural Born Killers is the last film I will include in my top five Tommy Lee Jones. In this movie, Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis star a duo of serial killers who are on the run, while holding up convenience stores along the way.

Hopefully there are one or more films from Tommy Lee Jones’ catalog that you have not yet seen. If you need a good place to get started, I highly recommend the above mentioned flims.
