The Latest Toy to Sweep the Nation: Elmo’s Tickle Hands!

Do you remember when Tickle Me Elmo was the number one toy in the stores? Every mall and every toy store was full of moms and dads trying to get Tickle Me Elmo for their little one. It created quite the chaotic scene around Christmastime because everyone wanted one for their kid. Since that time, Elmo has remained a popular choice of all children.

All one has to do is press his nose and the tickling begins! The hands will vibrate and move so that the tickling can commence. Kids can pretend to be Elmo and chase after one another with his tickling hands! They can also give chase to their ticklish parents!

The story also has accompanying DVD’s and CD. This new toy can be considered a form of exercise since children will be running around chasing each other. The dancing DVD allows children to groove to the music.

The gloves slide easily on to small hands, and are very comfortable. All your child has to do is press Elmo?s nose up against someone else in order for the furry hands to start vibrating. They can press the nose again if they want to start dancing.

There can be one small downside to this new toy. That is all of the laughter and noise you will hear around your house as the children chase each other with Elmo’s Tickle Hands. However it is a small price to pay to see your children enjoying such a fun toy.

Useful Advice For 2nd Grade Homework

When children are in the 2nd grade, they are still fresh to the school system and the distinction between work and play is still unclear. As a teacher of children of this age, fathoming where they’re developmentally is vital. It does no good to develop unreasonable expectations of second graders because you feel they should be able to conquer the academics you have in mind. It is that they aren’t up to the contest intellectually. They only may not be where you want them to be in their maturity to handle complex or challenging assignments.

This idea is especially crucial when assigning homework to second graders. Older children may grasp that homework is similar to dad doing his paperwork for the office at home and they can model that behavior because “working” makes sense. But homework for 2nd grade students should be customized to the age of the kids and to the particular students you have in your classroom. The first rule of thumb for any 2nd grade teacher is to not go the route of giving homework that’s in the curriculum without regard for your class and what they may and cannot do. Customize the work based on what you know of them and the upshots will be much more gratifying.

Bear in mind similarly that when you send homework with the children, you are much more giving the parents homework even more so than the children. Sending assignments home with second grade kids to be handed in the next day is a direct statement to the parents of “This is how I expect you to spend your family time with your child.” Parents know this well and since most teachers will make effort not to make enemies of the parents of their kids, its best to cover homework expectations with the parents during parent conferences early in the year so you don’t take them by surprise.

Be sure that you limit the quantity of homework particularly if youre going to spread assignment over a number of academic subjects. At this age level, you are teaching them 2 things when you send homework with them. You are utilising the homework to reinforce the classroom activity and teaching. But you are also teaching them the very idea of taking work home, making sure mom and dad know as regards it, completing it and returning it.

Finding Nemo – Chock-Full of Color and Fun

When you consider that 71% of the planet is comprised of water, finding any one particular fish seems like a veritable needle in a haystack — albeit a very wet, soggy haystack. Buttressed with this premise, Disney and Pixars FINDING NEMO soared to box office heights rarely enjoyed by an animated feature. To be sure, this little gem of a film remains the highest grossing animated film — ever.

FINDING NEMO follows the same thematic arch that makes any coming-of-age story appealing: little fish yearns to see the world, is forced to survive, and yearns to come home, begin enriched by his experience and the friends he has made. Nemo, voiced by Alexander Gould, is tired of his overbearing father, Marlin, voiced by the incomparable and perennially dour, Albert Brooks. When a scuba diver scoops Nemo up, Marlin is beside himself with panic. So starts a fathers journey to find his clownfish son.

On cue a regal tang, Dory, voiced by the ever dry, ever humorous Ellen DeGeneres, joins Marlin. Though Dory suffers from chronic short-term memory loss, her effervescent optimism buoys the ever-dour, ever-worrying Marlin. They soon make way for Australia to find Nemo. Meanwhile, Nemo has found his way into a fish tank, where a Moorish Idol, Gill, voiced by Willem Dafoe, is intent on making a break for it. As they try to break free from the tank, Marlin and Dory make every effort to find the loveable clownfish.

One of the highest grossing films in 2003, FINDING NEMO still holds the box office record for being the highest earning animated film in history, with $864 million worldwide. It went on to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and was lauded by the American Film Institute as the tenth greatest animated film of all time.

Side note, tourism to Australia surged during the summer and autumn months of 2003. Whether or not FINDING NEMO was a direct influence, the Australian Tourism Commission was quick to use clips of the film to bombard American television audiences. Likewise, the demand for clownfish soared in 2003. The demand was so great many pet stores could not keep the colorful fish in stock. The power of popular perception should never be discounted.
