Camping Without Going Outdoors

Camping trips provide a good opportunity of experiencing nature and spending time outdoors. Most people who love nature go on them, but we have some family friends who kept telling us how much they hated nature, yet each year they went on several camping trips that lasted for several days.

We were as curious as you might be as to why they continued going if they hated it so much, but no answer was ever received. We tried to joining them on several occasions, yet they seemed reluctant and simply refused.

They had also bought this big tent, saying it was very important to have a good tent when going camping. I agreed, but when I told them it was fairly large and would probably be difficult to carry, they just laughed at me. I figured they must know what they are doing, with the large number of trips they’ve gone on.

It turns out they did know what they were doing, as I found out on the next night. They were supposed to leave on one of their camping trips, but I heard them making noise in the hallway. A quick look showed me they were going to the top of the building, instead of exiting it.

Going after them, I found myself on the roof, looking at what seemed to be a camping spot, with a large tent set up, some magazines, and a zune 8 gb digital media player along with some speakers, for ambiance. I let them know I was there, by complimenting their player.

You should have seen their reaction. They both froze and then started laughing their eyes out, as was I. They told me how this was “their” spot and how relaxing it was. We agreed to share it, and now, on special occasions, two large tents can be seen on top of our building.

Handheld Computers: Always Keeps Your Business Running Smoothly

My name is John and I am a local manager in a computer office. My staff and I are working daily on contracts related to software design. Most of them are for high end projects. The latest one we made was for an electronic surveillance program for the city. It was a year long contract and we spent lots of hours working on it. We usually have smaller projects though.

As a manager, five people are under me. They are programmers with very good backgrounds. We do specialize ourselves in projects for Windows, Linux and Mac. Everyday, my programmers had to be updated on any project changes. Let’s say one of them becomes sick…. well, the others need to be fully working as soon as possible without delay.

On our last project, one of my programmer became sick. He was bed ridden for a whole 14 days. The project was near the end and we needed everything to be done quickly and rightly. That time the programmer gave us some good feedback what to do and how to do it. It was the first time such thing happened. We do have every software well coded. But then, the delivery time was short and we could not verify the whole code. My client was expecting the product and I was more than stressed. Since that experience, I learned to keep my staff well updated on the product changes.

My company has been in business since 5 years so far. We grew up slowly and gained good fame for our quick deliverance. We have regular customers. I do spend lots of time with them reviewing the specifications and a lot more. The office is located in the downtown near the business district. It is a nice working place. I love my job a lot !

The Player That Comes Small But With Many

The popularity of portable devices has spread far and wide. With more areas being covered by WiFi (wireless Internet access), portable devices become even more attractive. Portable devices include laptops, netbooks or the Ultra Mobile PC and portable media players. There are special softwares that can easily convert audio and video into the digital format for use in these portable devices. They are becoming indispensable gadgets at work, leisure and entertainment. An electronic gadget, the portable media player stores and plays digital media. Though essentially a digital audio player, the portable media player can play videos and display images. There are also mobile phones that have these functions and are also known as portable media player. Archos was the first portable media player to be widely sold. This was in 2002. Most of the portable media players accommodate MP3 audio format. Some of them also support Advanced Audio Coding (AAC), Windows Media Audio (WMA) and WAV.

File formats including PNG, TIFF and GIF are compatible with some players like the iPod series. MPEG-4 video format is supported by most of the players. These portable devices are manufactured and marketed by many electronic firms. Archos released its Generation 5 series of portable media players in 2007. The series included Archos 705 WiFi 160GB.

The hard drive, flash memory or microdrive is used to store the data. There has been a steady increase in the storage capacity going up to 320 GB in the case of the hard drive PMPs and up to 32 GB for the flash memory based PMPs. The storage capacity of PMPs can also be enhanced. Content transfer can be done using Secure Digital card, CompactFlash and Memory Sticks directly from external devices. The screen size of the display screen has risen to 7 inches. Resolutions vary from player to player and may go up to WVGA. The color depth ranges from 16-bit, which is normal, to 24-bit in some players. After the launch of the Touch Screen technology, many PMPs have integrated this feature into their players. Even more new features were integrated into the PMPs in the recent past such as the editors, game emulation, the simple camera and text readers.

Media players are continually developing. Usually, people watch movies at cinemas or at home but now they watch it anywhere they want to go.
